KAT L. DAVIS
Kat L. Davis never expected to publish a professional portfolio of videography and photography work that she created and produced. After graduating from Northwestern Pritzker Law School, Kat pursued a successful career as a litigator and raised her two children. From 2014-2018, she volunteered at the Sundance Film Festival and realized that she wanted to learn everything she could about both the history and production of film and television. She returned to college at Florida Atlantic University where she graduated summa cum laude with a Second Baccalaureate in Multimedia Studies. During her time at FAU, she loved every aspect of her studies from shooting and editing videos and photos to conducting research for the Graduate Director of the Film Studies program. Chosen for the selective Owls Among Us documentary program, Kat produced, filmed and edited two short documentaries about unique students at FAU. Ray, a film about a survivor of the mass school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, received local news coverage. Working at the student-run television station, Kat had the opportunity to initiate and lead projects; produce news, sports and entertainment segments; and learn effective uses of social media to reach target audiences. She used her film festival experiences to launch and direct the first FAU student press pass program to cover the Miami Film Festival. Kat Davis' portfolio speaks of her intense desire to work in the television and film industry to create and tell stories that will entertain or inform or help someone make sense of world.
